Some prominent members within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, following a widely shared video from his campaign tour in the Bono Region.

The video features a nursing student from Techiman Krobo Nursing Training College voicing her frustration over unpaid allowances since her enrollment.

"Since the first year. I haven't received any allowance to date. I'm now in my final semester. And some of us are struggling to pay our tuition. Next week, we're scheduled for exams.

"Those unable to pay will be dismissed. They won't be permitted to sit for exams. If the allowances were disbursed, they could have covered their fees. So, my question is, when will we receive the allowance?

Dr. Bawumia responded by committing to discuss the matter with the Ministry of Finance to expedite the payment of the overdue allowances.

"I wasn't certain about the status of your Allawa, but I plan to consult with the Ministry of Finance as soon as I get back. I'll ensure that your allowance is paid if it's outstanding."

In response to the video, the NDC's National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, claimed on X that the vice president's credibility was compromised after the government's pledge to pay the nursing training allowance.

"Bawuliar @MBawumia exposed once again," he commented on X regarding the video.

Additionally, the NDC's National Youth Organiser, George Opare Addo, shared his thoughts on X: “Dishonest, incompetent, and unprovoked liar! Behold the man who claims he has bold solutions. Bold lies fit him.”

Dr. Bawumia is touring various regions to garner support as the 2024 general elections draw near.

The general elections are scheduled for December 7, 2024.
