Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has indicated that Ghanaian artistes who travel outside the country for shows are given meagre amount for their services there.

According Shatta Wale who spoke on Pluzz FM’s AM Pluzz, event promoters have been taking artistes for granted but he will not be a victim.

He told host, Sammy Flex, that he would prefer playing in Ghana and be referred to as a ‘local champion’ than perform abroad for a small amount of money.

“Promoters shouldn’t see us as kids. If I can get paid for a hundred thousand and over in Ghana and you call me for a show in America and want to pay me $3,000, then keep it… All those artistes you see travelling here and there are not making anything. They just go for the fame of it. That’s why haven’t travelled so if anybody calls me a local champion, I love it. The local champion is richer than the international champion,” he stated.
