The death of Komla Afeke Dumor on Saturday created a vacuum in the hearts of many Ghanaians as he was revered for his service to people when it comes to educating, informing and entertaining.
With entertainment, he wins the admiration of all as he is known to be more general news oriented, looking at his hard interviews with world leaders and disaster stricken people among others.
Komla Dumor on the BBC World News, Focus on Africa programme delved into Africa’s entertainment world with some relaxed interviews with musicians, artists and film makers.
Among them was Wizkid of Nigeria who opened up to Komla Dumor about the clash between his profession and personality.
His dexterity over the English language, first-hand knowledge of pertinent issues and his inescapable soothing voice piercing through his avid smiles and laughter made him on top of his game.
Komla Dumor was a huge fan of the Black Stars and he didn’t hide that whenever there was a game in and outside the country. Pictures and videos of him donning the jersey of his national team is all over; a famous instance was a report he gave on the BBC at the World Cup in South Africa where he ended by taking off his jersey to show which team he supported.
His love for social media has given his admirers and Ghanaians in general a feel of what he does at the BBC and also his personal life. There are pictures of him with Ghanaian musicians and actors including Sarkodie and Yvonne Okoro.
Despite his underperformance in dancing Azonto, he showed the world the Ghanaian in him when it comes to dancing.
Komla Dumor died suddenly in his London home Saturday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 41 years old.
Some of his entertaining pictures and videos are below…
