Prescribed attire? Rebecca, Samira, and Frema Opare dazzle in purple at SONA

February 20, 2020, was one of the historic moments in Ghana's democratic governance. The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, delivered his fourth State of Nation Address.

His address was in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana and the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana.

The purpose is to update Ghanaians on the government’s progress and outline plans for the next financial year. Areas covered in the address included the economy, education, health, security, and infrastructure.

On fashion, GhanaWeb lenses spotted the First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Samira Bawumia, wife of the Vice president in parliament to support their husbands; as well as Ghana's first female Chief of Staff, Frema Opare in the same colour.

Taking a much closer look at these three women, GhanaWeb spotted the colour purple as the highlight of their stunning outfits for the occasion.

The First Lady wore a dominant purple lace Kaba and Slit; Samira Bawumia matched a gold kente with purple lace and Madam Frema Opare was also seen in a purple and gold kente Kaba and Slit.

The Vice President did not leave the colour from his outfit, he matched his black suit with a purple tie.

Was it intentional? That is what social media users have been asking.

According to Colour Psychology, purple is a beautiful colour to enjoy and created from two wonderful colours blue and red.

The colour purple is only not beautiful but it has a very interesting meaning behind it. IT is associated with royalty; it symbolizes power, nobility, luxury, and ambition. It is said to convey wealth and extravagance.
