Takoradi based music promoter Sadick Assah better known as Sleeky has asked hiplife artiste Kofi Kinaata to support upcoming artiste in Takoradi in the western region as he was aided to reach the heights he has attained.
Speaking on Takoradi based radio station, Connect FM, Sleeky observed that, the boys in the region played a crucial role in making Kofi Kinaata a popular artiste under the Taadi brand.
He added that being a native of a slum in Effiakuma, Kinaata’s current posture towards ‘boys in the hood’ is not healthy.
Sleeky particularly criticized the manner in which Kofi Kinaata addressed the issue of illegal fishing and irregular migration prevalent in their enclave recently.
The promoter who describes Kinaata as a ‘Stomach Musician’, explained that instead of prioritizing his interest over all others, he should have explained to the organization that the youth are pushed into vices and illegal migration because of the pressures on them due to lack of jobs.
He emphasized that Kofi Kinaata should have campaigned for legal avenues to support the ‘boys’ to set up a business or learn a trade, rather than lambasting them outrightly.
He added that when Kinaata embarked on his Europe tour, it was the same group of migrants who have ended up in Europe through unapproved routes who made his show in Italy a success.
“Considering the troublesome of us (Sleeky) went through to push for stars back then, including Castro to support Kofi Kinaata to get into the limelight, I find it shocking that Kofi Kinaata is not doing enough to push other talented musicians from the western region to also survive in the industry,” Sleeky retorted.
He alleged that Kofi Kinaata shies away from collaborating with Ayesem and Nero X because he wants to be the only artiste that comes to mind when the ‘West’ is mentioned.
