Silverbird Cinemas, a subsidiary of Silverbird Ghana, the leading entertainment centre in the country, has received a first batch of students on tour of their facility. This forms part of their newly-fashioned edutainment tour series for school children from the basic to the Junior High School levels. The initiative offers school children the opportunity to see firsthand, how a modern day cinema operates.
Welcoming the first batch of children from the Tema Parents Association School and later, pupils from Start Rite Montessori School at Kasoa, Kweku Yankson, Marketing Manager of Silverbird Ghana reiterated Silverbird’s commitment to quality service not only in terms of entertainment, but also education, to their varied clientele. “We are glad to have basic school children as our first ever batch of tourists. We look forward to using our facility to support educational initiatives via audio-visuals. Our doors are open to all educational institutions to come on board”, he said.
“Children learn a lot at play and as the old saying indicates that all work and no play makes one dull, we put this package together to give school children a different form of edutainment. We hope to have more of such visits in the ensuing weeks”, he added. He called on all basic and Junior high school authorities to take advantage of this opportunity to expose the children to quality on-screen habits and to give them a flexible learning and entertainment package in a controlled environment. This, he noted, would facilitate the teaching and learning process.
The children were given a comprehensive tour of the cinema’s various sections, and they also had a go at the Silverbird Games Arcade. They were then treated to a movie with popcorn and drinks. The Silverbird basic and Junior High School facility tour is part of Silverbird Ghana’s initiatives to partner with educational institutions to broaden the horizon of Ghanaian school children.
