Washing one’s dirty linen in front of any kind of camera is bad enough, but if that person is Moesha Boduong, and the camera belongs to CNN, all of Ghana will definitely have a problem.

Ghanaweb hit the streets of the capital to get the views of the public on the actress’ recent confession to CNN’s Christiane Amanpour regarding how she affords the luxury she so unashamedly flaunts on social media.

Comments on the issue ranged from downright denial of the fact that young girls of today indulge in sexual transactions to survive to admitting that, well, Moesha’s only wrong was showing Ghanaian women off as mere dependents, to a woman as independent as Christiane Amanpour.

She claimed that her desire to date married men was rooted in Ghana’s bad economy and the inability of women in the country to make ends meet in a supposedly patriarchal society.

Social media was set ablaze when the interview was released on Wednesday with the #Moesha trending on Ghana twitter for two days straight.

Reactions were split between admitting to the reality of Moesha’s comments and defending the proper travails of women who do not depend on men for survival.

With the advent of piercing feminine voices such as ‘Pepper dem’ and ‘Sugar dem’ in recent gender conversations, Moesha’s comments touched a nerve that was too sensitive for even slay queens to bear.
