The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Kwabena Agyepong has said the party is committed towards a credible voters’ register ahead of the 2016 general elections.
The opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) has announced its readiness to address Ghanaians tomorrow on the need for the Electoral Commission(EC) to agree to a new register ahead of next year’s polls.
Speaking to Fiifi Banson on Kasapa 102.3 FM, Agyepong said the current album of the EC is hugely flawed hence could not be relied upon for the upcoming elections.
Mr Agyepong reiterated the fact that other political parties like the People’s National Convention (PNC) and the Convention People’s Party (NPP) have also raised concerns over the register, all asking for an edit.
Ghanaians he told Banson had no confidence in the voters register, which he says is an extremely dubious document.
“A new voters register will go a long way to shore up public confidence in the electoral process, and this is critical for the successful conduct of a peaceful, free and fair election in 2016.’’
