Two Ghanaian dancehall musicians, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, have become the centre of online discussion after being urged to “smoke the peace pipe” following nearly a decade of rivalry.

In a video captured by GhanaWeb on March 20, 2026, during the just-ended 2026 World Cup fundraising launch at the Kempinski Hotel, the two artistes were first seen exchanging a handshake before being encouraged to embrace each other.

In the less-than-two-minute footage, President John Dramani Mahama, present at the event, requested that the dancehall stars hug to settle their long-standing feud.

Following the president’s request, the two artistes were seen wholeheartedly embracing on stage.

Moments after the hug, Stonebwoy took the microphone and noted that "if the president says hug, you won't hug? You want him to jail us?.. Obey power,"

The video has since sparked widespread reactions online, with netizens expressing mixed opinions.

While some have praised the president for helping to end the long-running rivalry, others have expressed hope that the artistes will maintain the newfound peace.
