Wisa may have planned it all – Jessica Opare

Citi FM’s Programmes Manager, Jessica Opare Saforo, has shed more light on circumstances that led to hiplife artiste, Wisa, revealing his manhood while performing on Christmas Eve at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Ms Opare-Saforo, who is also a presenter of Citi FM’s Drive show Traffic Avenue, said Wisa’s infamous act happened while performing his second song of the night, despite an agreement between the artiste and the Decemba2Rememba organisers – Citi FM – that he would perform only one track, ‘Ekiki Mi.’

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana on Tuesday December 29, 2015, Jessica told host Paul Adom-Otchere that she had a brief chat with Wisa backstage moments before he was scheduled to appear on stage to perform.

She said the artiste, contrary to their earlier agreement, had told her he would perform an additional song to ‘Ekiki Mi’, which he promised the crowd would love.

“He was contracted to perform that song only. Prior to him going on stage I had a little conversation with him. I said, ‘Are you ready?’ Because this was his first big hit.

This was the first time he was going to perform in front of such a large audience. He said, ’Oh yeah, yeah. I am okay. I have got a surprise for you.

He wasn’t just going to perform Ekiki Mi. And I said I was not sure about it, and he was like ‘No, no people like that song’, and I am like ‘Okay, cool, let’s see what you have.’”

Ms Opare-Saforo further explained that Wisa’s ‘surprise’ song was rendered in Ga – a language she has no knowledge of – and was only prompted by someone after the artiste had finished his performance that the lyrics of that composition were “very vulgar”.

The Citi FM presenter said, being backstage, she had no idea what was playing out on stage and could not have seen Wisa performing the X-rated act. “So, I was backstage.

I hadn’t seen what had happened. Tic Tac was a guest MC that night, and he was like ‘Jess, did you see what this guy did? He took out his, you know,’” she narrated.

According to her, she only saw the footage of Wisa’s act on social media and insisted that apart from those filming the performance at the sides of the stage, most of the cameramen and audience did not see it themselves, as Wisa took out his member with his back to the stage. Ms Opare-Saforo described the young rapper’s act on stage as “very unfortunate”.
