Nana Yaa Nyarko, the main suspect in Wyllbee's murder case, has been granted bail.
Earlier, reports indicated that Nana Yaa and her legal team were seeking bail from the Adum High Court after the Akropong Circuit Court turned down their request.
Per reports, Nana Yaa was scheduled for trial on August 15, 2024, at the Adum High Court to address their bail request.
However, her plea has been granted, and she has been granted bail by the Adum High Court.
Nana Yaa and the second accused person were both granted bail of GH¢100,000 each with sureties.
The bail verdict was delivered in her absence, due to concerns that the angry crowd gathered at the court premises might pose a threat to her safety.
A representative of Wyllbee's family, after the proceedings, told the media, "The family is disturbed, but there's nothing we can do because the law has taken its course."
Meanwhile, Nana Yaa is expected to appear before the Akropong Circuit Court on August 27, 2024, for trial.
Background:
Reports indicated that Wyllbee was killed in Abuakwa-Tanoso, Ashanti Region, while staying overnight at Nana Yaa Nyarko’s residence, a property reportedly owned by her 'abroad-based' husband’s family, who were unaware of Wyllbee’s presence.
According to initial accounts, on July 5, 2024, Wyllbee was seen urinating in the compound and was confronted by residents who suspected him of theft.
Wyllbee allegedly claimed he was visiting Nana Yaa, but she purportedly denied knowing him to protect her marriage from her in-laws.
This denial led to suspicion and accusations of theft among the neighbors, culminating in Wyllbee being lynched. Reports also mention that Wyllbee's phone was destroyed with a stone during the incident.
