Ghanaian actor John Peasah is seeking the sum of $280,000 for his ongoing medical treatment of Stiff Person Spectrum Disorder and GAD Positive Cerebellar Ataxia.

The actor has been struggling with a demyelinating disease that has worsened over time, leading to further complications.

In an Instagram post on August 14, 2024, Peasah revealed that he is not responding to current treatments and has nearly depleted his resources.

"Unfortunately, I’m not responding to treatment and have been spending almost all my resources, which are now almost depleted," he shared.

He expressed gratitude to his family, friends, and the Vice President of Ghana for their generous donations and gifts.

However, he emphasised the urgent need for additional funds to cover the costs of specialised care abroad including treatment for physical therapy, psychology, occupational therapy, biofeedback, and nursing at the Pain Rehabilitation Center.

"I want to thank my family and friends(especially you guys), as well as the Vice President of Ghana, for the numerous donations and gifts I’ve received.

"This fundraising effort is necessary to support my expensive treatment abroad, which includes specialized care from experts in pain medicine, physical therapy, psychology, occupational therapy, biofeedback, and nursing at the Pain Rehabilitation Center," he added.

What happened?

In March 2024, it was revealed that John Peasah was battling a serious health condition called demyelination, which affects the nervous system and can impact vision, coordination, and sensation.

His sister, Hannah Mensah, shared that Peasah's health issues emerged during the final season of 'YOLO'.

In response to his condition, there has been a significant show of support, including a visit and financial contributions from Dr. Bawumia, the NPP's flagbearer, and Drogba's friends.

A fundraising campaign was also initiated to help cover the costs of his treatment abroad.
