Bad Judge and Prosecutor. The judge simply felt for Mona's lies and utter lack of remorse. All AUSA (prosecutor) had to do was to go on the internet and show the judge all the bragging Mona was still doing AFTER she was arrested, and always posting "SAY WHAT" on Instagram and other social media platforms. If the prosecutor could have presented to show Mona's lack of remorse to the judge, I am sure she would have gotten a harsher sentence. Her first lawyer, whom she fired, was allowing her to continue to do this nonsense (posting on IG after her arrest), but her new lawyer was smart enough for her to stop doing this after the first one got fired. The prosecutor could have subpoenaed Instagram to pull these records even after Mona had closed her account on the advice of that second/new lawyer. This is where the prosecutor dropped the ball and now this girl will back in Ghana in no time to continue her bragging and continued scams.

But commit crimes that are usually known to be committed by poor whites and poor blacks, and the American federal justice system will give you more years in prison than you can count. There are far too many people in and outside America scamming Americans for their hard-earned savings, but the lenient sentences only serve to encourage the scammers, knowing that they just have to do a short stint in fedral prison and then come out and enjoy their loot that often has been laundered and out of reach of the federal authorities.

While there were rumors that some Ghanaian bigwigs and politicians were, reportedly, in cahoots with this criminal and her cabals, we are yet to know, if any, the extent of involvement of the Ghanaian Criminal Investigative wing of the Police Service's involvement in a parallel investigation into the alleged criminalities involving their perceived or alleged cohorts in the nation.
I can only hope that this lady and her Ghanaian accomplices would be vigorously hounded and hunted and brought to justice, as a deterrent to thousands of others suspected to be involved in such crimes and who are shaming the entire nation by their online criminal activities.
