  This is why it is often so important to allow yourself not to rush up the ladder of promotion often by trampling others or elbowing them out of your way . It is often prudent to allow yourself to rise steadily so that you have time to build the emotional and mental toughness or the spiritual muscle and resilience that you will need further along your upward journey.
  IT IS NEVER A GOOD IDEA TO HASTILY FORCE OTHER'S OUT SO THAT YOU CAN HAVE THEIR POSITION BECAUSE YOU MAY NOT BE FULLY PREPARED FOR THAT POSITION EVEN THOUGH THE ONE YOU HELPED PUSH OUT MAY HAVE BEEN INCOMPETENT.OCCUPYING A POSITION PREMATURELY MAY RESULT IN AN OVER AMBITIOUS PERSON COLLAPSING UNDER THE WEIGHT AND STRAIN OF THE JOB THEY ARE NOT FULLY READY FOR.THEY THEN ALSO START TO SERIOUSLY UNDERPERFORM .
  King David in the Bible was anointed to be king and although he was unable to occupy the throne for many years his time of enforced waiting as an outcast in the wilderness all toughened him up and prepared him for the very very weighty responsibility of a King. David also resisted the temptation to get the throne early by getting rid of King Saul who God had already rejected. David resisted the temptation to kill King Saul when he had a few opportunities to do so. If David had taken the throne by force he would have done so prematurely and would not have been fully prepared for the job. As the saying goes "God's Timing Is Always the Best". David did not covet Saul's position but rather left it to the Almighty to remove the very King He had appointed in the first place.

  It never pays to take shortcuts in anything worthwhile having whether it is career, vocation, building wealth, building skills or a acquiring a great reputation. THEY ALL TAKE TIME.THEY ALL REQUIRE GREAT PATIENCE ,PERSEVERENCE ,COURAGE AND DISCIPLINE.
