  A man has no business proposing marriage if he cannot stand on his own feet. Yes he may need his parents to help with SOME of the wedding expenses but in general a fella who is still hanging on to his mother's apron is to be feared and avoided. There is always a caveat in these things. A man may still be living at home (e.g in a "compound house" setting, and have his own private quarters) have gainful employment and still be very responsible. In this world things are rarely black and white, there will always be exceptions to the rule.
  CERTAINLY NO RESPONSIBLE FATHER SHOULD GIVE THEIR DAUGHTER'S HAND IN MARRIAGE TO A LAZY, AIMLESS FELLA WITH NO JOB, NO AMBITION AND NO MEANINGFUL PLANS FOR THE FUTURE EVEN IF THE FELLA HAS VERY RICH PARENTS.
  And girls please don't marry a fella because they come from a rich family or have "connections" in high places or because they have a foreign passport. CHARACTER IS EVERYTHING CHARACTER IS ALL THAT MATTERS. AND CHARACTER IS LINKED TO GODLINESS (NOT RELIGIOSITY).
  Character is what will determine whether you make it in marriage or not girls. Character ,both his and yours is what will determine whether you have contentment and peace of mind during marriage.
