There are many a man whoose wives married them when they were "broke" but those smart wives saw beyond their future husband's "brokeness"- when they looked at their boy friends or fiancés they recognised a precious diamond covered in dirt soil, they saw a hard-working man, a disciplined man, a man who had tenacity and was not easily discouraged, they saw a kind-hearted ,considerate man and they looked beyond the current "brokenness" ("dirt" and "soil") and saw a vision of a bright happy future (a sparkling very expensive diamond). These women came alongside their "broke" men ,believed in them, encouraged them ,helped them through the ups and downs of life and together built a life . They often did this through much sweat and blood and sometimes heartache and temporary loss. These are the women now enjoying the fruits of their labour and faithfulness 10,15,20 30 years later.
Like many people I have discovered that the things that come easily to us also go away easily and are not appreciated while the things that are acquired through much pain sacrifice and sweat tend to endure and are treasured and preserved.

You are right. I asked my wife why she married me, and she said the first time she visited me she saw Management and motivational books littered in the hall. I was then done with my MBA in University of Ghana and doing CIMA professional accountancy exams. That was in the year 2014. But my then girlfriend left me because she didn't see any money on me then. So sir, sometimes a man may be broke but a smart woman sees beyond that and will him for sake of the future.
