  It is not enough to look for what gifts or good traits the other person has but equally important is WHAT YOU ALSO BRING TO THE TABLE YOURSELF. If you are attracted to the person you want to marry because they are gentle, kind, considerate, respectful hardworking faithful that is a very good thing. However what do you "bring to the table" yourself? Are you gentle, are you kind, are you unselfish, do you also believe in being totally committed to your marriage, are you hard working and disciplined?
  Marriage works best when both sides are "givers" and are committed. Contrary to popular belief MARRIAGE IS NEVER A 50%-50% SHARING ARRANGEMENT. This is because what you think is your 50% contribution (emotionally, financially etc. etc.) may actually be viewed by your spouse as only worth 30% and likewise you may see their 50% contribution as only being 30%! This is because we all have different ideas and perspectives about what our partner's contribution should be.
  IN REALITY MARRIAGE ALWAYS WORKS BEST WHEN EACH PARTNER GIVE MUCH MORE THAN 50% ALL OR MOST OF THE TIME. So if each side is giving 70% then they are likely to appreciate each other more and this appreciation of each other tends to grow with time in healthy marriages between two human beings who have learned to be GIVERS". The more similar values you share the more likely you will be successful in achieving a fulfilling life together in spite of the battles and challenges all marriage have to face. That is why a STRONGLY SHARED FAITH AND BELIEF SYSTEM (not attending the same church or regular church attendance) bodes well for a marriage.
  In contrast the worse marriages are between two "TAKERS" and a marriage between a "GIVER" and "TAKER" can descend into pure misery and hell.
  "TAKERS" are always self-centered, narcissistic, lack commitment and live just for themselves. They use and abuse others for their own benefits. They are quick to leave if the marriage encounters difficulties and they never contribute anything meaningful to the wellbeing of the marriage.
