  The entertainment industry everywhere in the world is characterised by fierce cut-throat competition. This state of affairs is also found in most other vocations, in academia, in respected professions,in the security forces and even in the religious sector. Everybody jealously guards their turf.
  Sometimes you can only have great friends outside of your own sector because both sides don't feel as much threatened. GREAT PEOPL tend not to easily feel threatened by others operating in the same space and tend also not to be afraid of making changes in their carreer direction if this becomes necessary.Most people prefer to be a big fish in a small pond rather than migrate to a bigger lake or ocean where they will for a short season become small fish BUT HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO GROW INTO GIANT FISH BY LEARNING FROM OTHERS AND DEVELOPING NEW SKILL SETS.
  Competion is a part of life and often healthy.But there are instances where competion can be very unhealthy and even destructive. For example I know a few married couples who seem to compete with each other in a rather damaging way sad to say. In one case a gentleman who is the CEO of a company he inherited from his late father over a few decades built it up into a well recognised brand in a certain North American country. However when his wife, a rather headstrong lady started to play an increasingly prominent role in the company's affairs problems started to emerge.She frequently reversed or altered her husbands decisons behind his back, argued interminably with him at company meetings which was quite distressing to witness. In fact before her appointment as a "director" she had been had been suspected by senior officers as responsible for some of the outlandish decison the otherwise sensible CEO made from time to time. Unlike her husband she had poor human relationship skills lacked the ability to listen sympathetically to subordinates and employees. She was also noted to have poor decison making abilities and being very temperamental .She was quite ruthless in her attitudes towards those who did not see eye to eye with her ideas. Soon after her promotion employees started to leave the company resulting in an increasing turnover of the workforce steadily. As many of those leaving had built up considerable experience the overall effect of this high turnover of the workforce began to manifest as a fall in the quality and reliability of the husband's factory's products. "Princess Pushy" as the director's wife came to be called behind her back also started to push her not so experienced or not so talented daughters into the company hierachy by creating positions for them thereby diverting valuable resources into activities that did not really add value to the company's overall performance and productivity. A climate of fear, factionalism and mistrust crept into the work environment.Since then the firm has come close to bankruptcy at least twice and the CEO has had to sell off some product lines in order to stay solvent.Today the company is a mere shadow of what it was say 10 years ago.
