Any Ghanaian who raises a finger at Mzbel does not love the nation. The free SHS is a very shambolic intervention by some crooks to siphon and loot our resources. My illiterate grandmother could have run this program more successfully than what we currently have, given the huge investments in it. We are just not getting value for money and the people at the helm know this.

And, improving on the O-Levels system by Making students pick their subjects after form two instead of form three, giving them three years to specialize before university. Personally, I finished form five from a good school but left after lower six to attend college in the states. I was a freshman with some A-level graduates and first year university students from Ghana and Caribbean students from the same educational system. The evidence suggested that the education was good. Most students were competitive. They either excelled or held their own against the native student.

It takes no less than 3+ years to upgrade the necessary infrastructure to accommodate the sudden influx of students. The NDC approach that the infrastructure should have been in place before implementation of the FSHS policy reflects a lack of imaginative thinking. That approach would have meant a perpetuation of the status quo until such time as the infrastructure were all in place.
The double track system however allows for the sudden influx and ensure the policy was up and running. The essence of the policy is to ensure all senior high school entrants received education. That is the raison d;tre of the policy. It is not the infrastructure per se. So you sweat the existing asset with double track whiles your building programme is simultaneously going on.

The Govt must come clean about the cost of the FSHS if the RTI Bill works in Ghana no need for the cost or funding to be enshrouded in secrecy. More SHS Community Day Schools must be built especially in every constituency and Districts
