  Banku is Dangme and not Ga word, Ba and not Baa is leaf, Ku(corn and cassava dough mixed) is the food, so simply food served in leaves

  'Ku' with silent N is and as a name for staple food is a Dangme language NOT Ga.
  Eg: MaKU, kokoteKU, kaawiKU, agblimaKU etc 'Ha jukwon KU ne hey ye" means give the kid food ...

  'Ku' with silent N is and as a name for staple food is a Dangme language NOT Ga.
  Eg: MaKU, kokoteKU, kaawiKU, agblimaKU etc 'Ha jukwon KU ne hey ye" means give the kid food (KU) to eat.
  The Ewes interacted with Dangmes first before meeting the Gas as per history. The Ewes who came to settle near the southern volta then fought Dangmes of their land because of the salt and to take territory.
  It is rather possible that the Gas adopted from Dangmes not from Ewe. Due to the peace pact between Ewes & Dangmes with the 12 virgins from each sides, & later inter-marriages, the two sides MAY unitentionally adopted some words and names.
  Another Clarity -
  There is no tribal group call GaDangme.
  This Ga/Dangme came about due to the formation of associations of Ghanaians living in the diaspora. Eg Fante associtions, Nzima, Ewe etc
  Because they were minority they decided to form Ga/Dangme Association. Dede, Korkor Mamle, Maku Ladze etc are Dangme name for female child position in birthline of same father, same name. Adopting another tribe name does not make one as part. THANKS
