The Tragic Story Behind the Hymn:

Horatio Gates Spafford was a successful lawyer and devout Christian living in Chicago in the 19th century. He endured several traumatic events shortly before writing this hymn:

1. The Great Chicago Fire (1871):
Spafford was heavily invested in real estate in Chicago. The Great Fire destroyed much of the city, including most of his wealth.

2. The Loss of His Son:
Not long before the fire, Spafford’s only son died of scarlet fever at the age of four.

3. The Shipwreck (1873):
To recover from the tragedies, Spafford planned a trip to Europe for his family. Business delayed him, so he sent his wife and four daughters ahead on the steamship SS Ville du Havre.
Tragedy struck when the ship collided with another vessel and sank rapidly. Over 200 people died, including all four of Spafford’s daughters. His wife, Anna, survived and sent him a now-famous telegram: "Saved alone."

4. The Hymn Is Born:
As Spafford traveled to meet his grieving wife, the ship passed near the location where his daughters had drowned. Inspired by that moment, he penned the words to "It Is Well with My Soul."

Legacy:

In Islam, we have a saying that the most beloved by God go through many trials. As God explains in the Quran, trials are a way to separate the men from the boys.
Read about the life story of Job, Mohammed, Moses, Abraham, Noah, Joseph from the Quran and you will realise God's prophets went through more trials that you can imagine etc.
Moreover you should be grateful for what you have achieved in life, people went through much worse trials and persecutions and ended up with nothing in life.
As for chances of survival, try your best by going for the best treatment you can afford and leave the rest to God. Life and death is in God's hands. What of those you die in perfect health? what of those who die through accidents? What of those who die in their sleep. i wish I could speak to you personally, but we cant. Find a positive mentor.
From what I see, you don't have any problem. i wish you can afford stupid negativity and concentrate on your life. People hold master's degrees from world class universities in the top 10 in the world and don't even earn 200 cedis a day in Ghana, some are even unemployed. From the look of things you have never even attended a world class university, and yet you are earn more than $500 a day.
