The world officially or unofficially accept it’s the dollar. That’s why Sammy Gyamfi didn’t spray Libyan Dinar or South African Rand. What knowledgeable people are saying is that the information given by party die hards and government officials over our currency’s gains is false. From experience, we know import duties and consumer prices, interest rates go up when the dollar gains. Our market women have no degrees in economics but they know that. The Zambrama men changing dollars know that. Mahama should take advantage of a weak dollar to fix the economy where he can! If you understand the how it works, a weak dollar has a negative impact on our economy too, for example, our exports. Those external buyers must pay more because instead of getting 15 cedis worth of goods, they now get 10 cedis. In other words, they must pay 20 dollars for what used to be 15 dollars. It’s not a win-win situation for us when we want to sell our goods to earn foreign exchange. For the USA, it’s a tactic that may draw buyers when shopping in America has become cheaper.Trump is looking to get more purchases, more business and more foreign investment. Saudis and Chinese investors can now grab something that used to be 15 million dollars for say 10 million dollars.
