  RESPONSE TO THE REJOINDER ISSUED BY MAAME EFUA HOUADJETO THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (C.E.O) OF GHANA TOURISM AUTHORITY (GTA)
  
  The Coalition of GaDangme Pressure Group and The GaDangme Tahulɔi Kpee, has taken notice of the rejoinder signed by Maame Efua Houadjeto, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, in response to the public outrage concerning the alleged replacement of the culturally significant inscriptions “Woezor” and “Akwaaba” with “Oobakɛ” at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.
  
  We state emphatically that the tone, posture, and substance of the said rejoinder are an affront not only to the GaDangme people but also to the historical truth surrounding the very grounds on which the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park stands. As a matter of fact The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park is not situated in Eweland or Akanland but on GaDangme soil, in the heart of Accra. It is therefore both fitting and respectful that GaDangme language and culture are represented at such a national monument. Recognition of GaDangme identity on GaDangme land is not a replacement, but an inclusion long overdue.
  
  Historically, the site in question was part of the Accra Community Centre, which was entrusted to the British colonial government in 1897 to serve as polo grounds. In the mid- 20th century, however, the colonial authorities constructed a new polo grounds elsewhere, thereby ceasing to use the former. This very site later became the sacred grounds where Dr. Kwame Nkrumah declared Ghana’s independence in 1957, a defining moment etched forever in the soul of GaDangme land and Ghana’s history. In 1992, President Jerry John Rawlings constructed the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Mausoleum to immortalize Ghana’s first President. This land, therefore, carries not just national but also GaDangme heritage and symbolism, which must never be distorted or disrespected.
  
  The attempt by Maame Efua Houadjeto and the Ghana Tourism Authority to wash its hands off this matter and feign ignorance is insulting and unacceptable. Whether by act or omission, the GTA bears ultimate responsibility for developments at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. To issue a statement distancing itself from accountability while dismissing genuine cultural concerns is reckless and smacks of disregard for the GaDangme people.
  
  For far too long, GaDangme culture has been marginalized in its own homeland while others dictate what is “appropriate” on GaDangme soil. The attempt to present this matter as though “Oobakɛ” undermines “Woezor” or “Akwaaba” is not only disingenuous but an insult to the GaDangme people. No national institution, including the GTA, has the authority to erase or sideline the language of the landowners. The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park is a site of national pride, but it must also reflect the culture and traditions of the GaDangme people, who are the custodians of Accra.
  
  We wish to make it clear that the GaDangme people will not tolerate any subtle erasure of our culture, language, and history in the guise of “rebranding” or “refurbishment.” The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park is not a playground for appointees to impose their whims; it is a sacred symbol of our collective identity. Maame Efua Huoadjeto and the GTA must apologise for its dismissive, disrespectful and misleading rejoinder, which trivialises the GaDangme identity and attempts to cast our legitimate concerns as “false information.”
  
  We are therefore calling on President John Dramani Mahama to immediately call some of his appointees, particularly Maame Efua Houadjeto, to order. Her dismissive rejoinder is provocative, divisive, and an insult to the intelligence of the Ghanaian people. Failure to act will leave us with no choice but to unleash the GaDangme spirit of Katamanso; a spirit of resistance, dignity, and unyielding defense of our heritage on her and anyone who attempts to undermine our cultural integrity.
  Going forward, no decisions concerning cultural representations on GaDangme land should be taken without consultation with GaDangme traditional authorities.
  
  The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park is not only a symbol of national unity but also a GaDangme heritage site by virtue of its location, not one of controversy and disrespect. We will not relent in defending what rightfully belongs to us and to future generations. We will resist every attempt to diminish or erase our cultural footprint.
  
  We commend the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Akweley Ocloo, and the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, for boldly standing up to protect and project the GaDangme heritage in the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park signage matter. Their stance reflects true leadership and a genuine commitment to safeguarding the cultural identity of our people. We wish them well in their quest to champion the GaDangme agenda.
  
  At the same time, we call on all GaDangmes, especially those in positions of leadership and influence, to rise and pursue the GaDangme cause with renewed urgency. For far too long, GaDangmes have been marginalized on our own land, and it is time to ensure that our history, culture, and language are preserved, respected, and given the prominence they deserve. Thank you

  It looks as if you Ga's have no vision at all, fighting over trivialities. If you cherished your lands and heritage would you sell them? How many of the supposed Accra lands are owned by Dangbes in the area? Stop trying to create unnecessary tribal stupidity and work on your lives. If it weren't for Akans and other tribes in Ghana you would have sold another sizable part to Igbo criminals. Stop trying to behave like you are now waking up because you wake up working on yourselves and archaic mentalities first. Even with the current development in Accra, without Akans, Accra would look dirty and smelly, citing the typical Ga neighborhoods like Nungua, La, Nima, etc. as case studies.
  
  For your information, Accra is an administrative capital of Ghana and Ga's don't have any right to the ownership of government structures over there whatsoever. If you people want to project your culture, build your own traditional projects and name them however you want them, not that of the taxpayer's because it would also be met with the necessary resistance. Accra is for Ghanaians not Ga's.
  
  Such nonsense and primitive style of trying to raise your social status will not yield any significantly proper result except the mass criticisms and disgrace your traditional outfit attracts on itself. Work on your people, not properties. You've already sold your lands and dignity, and instead of finding a better way to restore the little of it that's left, look at the low brain actions your outfits are engaging in. Shameless bunch of lazy people.

  Nothing you can do to change it...the true measure of an official language is to check what language is used in the streets and songs.
