It is not only social media that can cause great harm to a marriage couple's relation. Interactions with families and relatives can be even more dangerous. And it is important for couples to remember this fact even as they try to maintain and navigate their way through complex family relationships AFTER marriage.
Toxic family interactions: Gossiping, Backbiting, Jealousy ,Envy, Rumourmongering are all some of the family /extended family related hazards. Some entitled extended family members may feel aggrieved because they can no longer access help or make demands on a married family member when they want it.
It is extremely important that a married couple constantly remember that once they tie the knot their first loyalty is to their spouse as they commence the often difficult and bumpy road called marriage. Children are duty-bound to remain respectful to their parents and show them honour and consideration, but this cannot be done at the expense of their children’s marriage. Not even the best of parents can take priority over a spouse if that marriage is to last.
This is why good marriage counsellors often advise couples to live some distance away from relatives to minimise contact at least during the early years. This way a couple can establish BOUNDARIES which are essential for the health of a marriage. Parents can be a great support and a fountain of wisdom and knowledge because of their extensive life experience and so can other well-meaning relatives but good parents understand the importance of allowing their children the freedom to work out their own marriage.
Good marriages never happen by accident but are the product of years of serious commitment, loyalty, patience, being considerate, making time for the other person, learning to make reasonable compromises, learning to forgive and adjust to one another, being kind, being gentle, being truthful, having integrity and putting yourself in the other person's shoes.
EVERY MARRIAGE NEEDS SPACE AND A LOT OF INVESTMENT IN TIME AND EFFORT IN ORDER TO GROW AND MATURE AND EVENTUALLY BECOME THE WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE THAT MARRIAGE CAN BE. SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGES TAKE TIME. SUCCESFUL MARRIAGE REQUIRE CONSTANT EFFORT AND NURTURE.

This lady has spoken the truth however painful some people may find this. Airing your troubles to the world via social media may help you score some points against your spouse but this will likely come at great cost. You may win the battle but in the process you may lose the war.Things said or done can make resolving problems and disagreements that much more difficult and may even result in the collapse of your marriage.
In the same way it is also unwise to share your problems with some friends, colleagues or relatives because they are often not impartial (and are likely to tell you what they think you want to hear rather than what they know to be true)and in some cases they may not even have your good at heart. It is quite common for some jealous and malicious friends and relatives to secretly rejoice because of your troubles. Just like social media these so- called supporters will spread rumours, twist your words and badmouth you or your spouse. I've known cases where even after a couple had sorted themselves out they found it difficult to relate to friends and family because of widespread damaging gossip. I have known couples to be forced to relocate to another region or even.emigrate to another country in order to prevent their marriage falling apart.
HOWEVER HARD YOU FIND IT, HOWEVER TEMPTING IT IS:
1.IF YOU VALUE YOUR MARRIAGE WATCH WHAT YOU SAY
2. IF YOU VALUE YOUR MARRIAGE WATCH WHO YOU CONFIDE IN.
3. DON'T GIVE YOUR EAR TO JUST ANYBODY.
4. DON'T GIVE YOUR EAR ESPECIALLY TO A GOSSIP BECAUSE THEY'LL HELP YOU COLLAPSE YOUR MARRIAGE. THEY WILL TWIST YOUR WORDS, THEY WILL DISTORT AND MAGNIFY YOUR PROBLEMS AND BROADCAST THEM TO EVERYONE WHO HAS EARS OR A CELL PHONE.
