  Fela deserves a lot of credit for fearlessly standing up to the brutal authorities in Nigeria on behalf of all Nigerians. This came at a great sacrifice of his ability to generate more income to care for his large family since the Nigerian authorities were constantly harassing him and making it extremely difficult to freely perform around the country. At a time when most artists in Nigeria were too afraid to speak up on behalf of their fellow Nigerians who were being brutalized by the Police and military, Fela demonstrated extreme courage. His family should be very proud of Fela and the sacrifices he made on behalf of his fellow citizens, a decision that undoubtedly was costly to his career. The man endured beatings at the hands of the Police for speaking out against the government and its brutal Police, and wrote songs that openly criticized the abuses on his fellow citizens by that authoritarian government.

Imagine 40 years from today, your son go on an interview and says that despite you Femi, being famous, they struggled to eat. I guess your ghost wouldn't be happy about that, I am sure.

  Fela was not poor. He was generous for purpose on a mission. Look at his numerous wives, children , grandchildren , great grandchildren and friends he fed. Some of his wives were stealing him. He had a rich heart.
