  Abolish dowry, for women are not chattel. Dowry is nothing but a form of payment for the woman's hand in marriage. No dowry is given for the hand of the man, and there should be no dowry for the hand of the woman. The dowry practice is demeaning to women. Dowry and polygamy are antiquated practices that need to be thrown to the wind.
