  It goes without saying that Ghana’s judiciary system has gone to the dogs. It has broken down completely. If the CJ himself sentenced someone to life imprisonment simply because he ( the CJ) is scared of the convict coming out early to torment him, his judgement was not based on legal sentencing guidelines, but was based on his personal security and selfishness. What is happening now in our justice system makes Anas’s revelations just a tip of the iceberg. We need another Rawlings to clean up the system by getting rid of most of the judges through any means possible.

  Ozymandias is perfectly right on point with his take on the sentence imposed on Ataa Ayi by the now CJ . He imposed his sentence for fear of his own safety if this guy is released on time while he is still alive . That was grounds for an appeal of the sentence because it was legally flawed. Good lawyers can appeal this sentence.

  Bullgod should form a platform that would include laywyers and young graduates to support and advocate for inmates and to monitor the sentences imposed on prisoners so that unfair sentences can be made public and justice sought for those whose sentences are unfair. There are so many prisoners serving terms that do not make any sense in view of their crimes but they wallow in prison because they do not have the means to appeal their sentences.
