For Pastor Jennifer Kofi, the news of her third pregnancy did not bring joy—it brought fear.
Just months after giving birth to her second child, with her body yet to recover and finances stretched thin, the unexpected pregnancy pushed her into a moment she now describes as one of the most difficult of her life—one where she seriously considered abortion.
Speaking on G’Oclock with MzGee, the ICGC Revival Temple pastor recounted how what should have been another milestone instead became an emotional breaking point.
“When I had my second child, I felt God had answered me. I had a boy and a girl—I was done,” she said.
But barely two to three months after childbirth, she discovered she was pregnant again. According to her, she “was not in a position to handle it,” because her body “hadn’t even recovered.”
“We were not financially stable. Everything just felt wrong,” she added.
The weight of that reality hit her immediately to the extent that she “broke down at the hospital…”
In that moment, she admitted, the thought of abortion crossed her mind—a decision she says she has since deeply reflected on.
“It’s something I’ve confessed and repented of,” she said.
According to her, the pressure went beyond emotions. At the time, she and her husband were navigating financial challenges while building their ministry, making the prospect of a third child feel overwhelming.
“It wasn’t just about the pregnancy. It was everything around it—where we were in life, what we had, what we didn’t have.”
She added that conversations around family planning at the time made the option seem easier than she had ever imagined.
“They make it look so simple,” she noted, revealing that she later learned many married women quietly face similar decisions.
Yet even in that moment of distress, she said her faith remained a quiet but persistent anchor.
“No matter how overwhelmed I was, there was still that part of me that wanted to please God.”
The turning point came in an unexpected way.
One night, while resting separately from her husband, she had a vivid dream she describes as deeply unsettling.
“It felt like God was showing me what I was about to do—and how disheartened He was,” she said.
At the same time, her husband—unaware of her experience—had his own encounter.
“I walked into the room, and he said, ‘We are not doing it. I just had an encounter.’”
“I said, ‘I did too.’”
That moment, she said, settled the decision.
“So now we had to trust God.”
Today, she reflects on that choice with gratitude, describing her third child as calm, thoughtful, and deeply affectionate.
“He’s the one who comes to ask, ‘Mommy, are you okay?’” she said. “He’s so caring.”
Looking back, Pastor Kofi believes the experience highlights how easily difficult circumstances can cloud judgment.
“In the moment, it feels like you can’t do it. But sometimes we make decisions based only on what we see right now,” she said.
Her message to others facing similar situations is to pause, seek clarity, and not rush life-altering decisions.
“Sometimes, you could miss out on something that turns out to be so much better,” she added.
