Black Sherif (L) has backed Wendy Shay (R) for TGMAs Artiste of the Year
Ghanaian star Black Sherif has shared his thoughts on the nominees and the ongoing debates surrounding the Artiste of the Year category for the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).
In an interview with broadcaster Kafui Dey, shared on X on April 4, 2026, Black Sherif stated that one artiste whose name has not been mentioned enough, despite her hard work, is Wendy Shay.
According to him, Wendy Shay’s contributions in 2025 significantly impacted the Ghanaian music industry, yet she has not received enough recognitions in conversations about the Artiste of the Year category.

“I don’t like how people are not mentioning Wendy Shay’s name for Artiste of the Year. I don’t really like the division, but if I’m being honest and looking at things as they are, I don’t like how she’s being overlooked. I feel she is eligible this year as well,” he said.
On another subject, when asked whether he would consider joining the Ghana Armed Forces, Black Sherif revealed that it is something he has thought about on several occasions.
