Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy, has shared early memories of the discipline he received from his father while growing up.

In an interview with broadcaster Kafui Dey, shared on social media on April 10, 2026, Stonebwoy noted that his father, named Noble Satekla, was the true definition of discipline and strictness.

He explained that his father, who was the head of security in their church, used to prevent them from sneaking into town anytime the church organised retreats.

Stonebwoy vividly narrates his mother’s death

“My dad was a key figure in the church, so whenever we went for retreats, he would be the head of security at Prampram. Imagine seeing your dad caning other people. Sometimes, you would want to sneak out and go to town because the retreat grounds were in a restricted bush area.

“You might think of escaping through one side, but then you would see your dad beating someone, and you would quickly change your mind,” he said.

Stonebwoy also shared how his father would read a quotation from the Bible before disciplining him.

According to him, due to the strict discipline instilled by his father, members of the community would often report their stubborn children to him for correction.

Despite his father’s tough approach, Stonebwoy noted that it played a significant role in shaping the man he has become today.

“My dad would open the Bible and read quotations before beating you. And now, growing up, I appreciate him for some of those things... It takes a certain kind of heart. You could be sitting there as his child, watching him go into ‘beast mode’ with someone else, but before that, he would explain why he had to discipline the person.

"In that moment, there was no iota of pity. The pity is there, but they also weigh it against the possibility of you ending up in prison or in a bad situation. I think that thought is what gives them the strength to go through with that ‘beast mode,’” he added.
