Renowned Nigerian actor Ali Nuhu has opened up about the emotional impact of losing his mother, revealing how the experience shaped both his personality and career.
Speaking in a recent interview on the With Chude podcast, the actor disclosed that his mother’s death came at a time when his career was just beginning, deeply affecting his outlook on life.
“Losing my mom made me become glued to my career and I became an introvert. I was so heartbroken when I lost her and that was when my career started,” he said.
According to him, the pain of losing his mother pushed him into focusing entirely on his work, limiting his social interactions.
“At a point, I withdrew into a shell, I wasn’t mixing up with people and I just concentrated on the projects I was working on,” he stated.

Ali Nuhu further highlighted the special bond he shared with his mother, describing her as the best parent he could have asked for.
“The best treatment any child could receive from their parents, I got it from my mom, so I was so attached to her. She took me to the best schools and took very good care of me,” he shared.
He also disclosed that he was raised by a single mother following the separation of his parents, explaining that the decision was mutual.
“I was raised by a single mom. There was a mutual agreement between her and my dad; they felt the marriage wouldn’t work, so they separated,” he noted.
The actor added that he grew up without a relationship with his father for many years.
“When I was five years old, I never saw my dad until I graduated from secondary school and that was when we reconnected. It was my mother who took me to him for the holidays,” he added.
