Trigmatic is a renowned Ghanaian musician
Renowned Ghanaian musician, Trigmatic has shared a striking account of how far the music industry has come, recalling the lengths he and a colleague once had to go just to get their music heard by an influential radio personality.
Speaking on YFM, Trigmatic described a night he and a friend nicknamed ‘Bullet’ waited in the car park of the newly opened Yeboah Nightclub hoping to catch Bola Ray, who had asked them to meet him there.
"We tried to enter. They told us to go back. So we stayed at the car park all night for him," he said.
When Bola Ray finally emerged, Trigmatic managed to hand him a CD.
"We called him days after and he had not listened to it. He said, 'meet me at Abrantie spot around La Paz.' So we met him there and he said, 'Charlie, honestly, I didn't listen to the song. So I'm now going to listen.'"
The persistence paid off. Bola Ray eventually secured them a spot on Top Radio's Carnival, a platform that helped launch their careers.
Trigmatic used the story to drive a point about how technology has transformed access in the industry.
"Now things have changed and that's why we should be happy for technology. Social media is big now. There's Instagram. So if you want Tinny, you can get into his DM. He may not look at it, but the probability is high," he said.
According to him, it is easier for upcoming artistes in the country to get their craft heard by people of all walks of life due to the advent of technology.
