Nigerian Afrobeat artiste, Omah Lay
Nigerian Afrobeats singer and songwriter, Omah Lay, has opened up about the reason behind his decision to shave his hair and tattoo his head.
Speaking in an interview with Capital Xtra, the singer recounted how a series of disappointing haircut experiences led to the drastic change.
According to him, he was in Los Angeles for the Grammys when his barber gave him a haircut he was not satisfied with.
In an attempt to fix the situation, he sought out another barber who had been highly recommended to him.

However, the second attempt turned out even worse.
“The truth about shaving my head. I got to LA for the Grammys. I called the first barber to get me ready for the Grammys. He messed me up slightly. So I get another barber, he’s this person’s barber, he’s that person’s barber am like cool bro, come make me nice; he cut my self-esteem out. I didn’t like the images I saw at the after party,” Omah Lay recounted
Following the back-to-back experiences, the singer said he decided to take a different approach after the event.
He explained that he had already been considering getting a tattoo on his head for some time.
With that in mind, he chose to shave off his hair completely and go bald, after which he proceeded to tattoo his head
“I’ve always wanted to tattoo my head, so I was like maybe this is my sign, and that was it,” he added.
