Ghanaian chef and content creator Chef Abbys has advised students to prioritise their education, revealing that she focused more on her cooking business than her studies while in school.

Speaking in a recent interview on 3Music TV, Chef Abbys explained that she often had to cook for customers even during school hours because of the demand for her food.

According to her, some of her classmates and customers would plead with her to prepare fries for them even when she had classes to attend.

“Sometimes when we have class, those who buy from me would beg me to just make some of the fries for them, then I have to do it for them,” she said.

She admitted that she spent more time building her business than concentrating on her studies, a decision she now wishes she had handled differently.

“I was focusing more on the business than my studies, which is something I shouldn’t have done. I always advise student to focus on their studies because when you’re done, the world is so large and you can do so many things when you’re done with school,” she stated.

Chef Abbys further stressed the importance of having a university degree, noting that although she passed her exams, she believes she could have performed much better academically.

“Having a degree is very important and that’s something I wish I had done earlier because I focused more on cooking than class. I passed regardless, but I think I could have done better,” she shared.

The content creator also spoke about the challenge of balancing social media work with education, saying it can be difficult trying to study while also thinking about what content to post online.

“It’s very difficult to balance content creation with school because you have to be learning and be thinking of what to put on my page,” she explained.

She therefore encouraged students to put school first because content creation and business opportunities will still be available after graduation.

“The thing is, always put the school first. When you’re done with school, content is there forever,” she said.

Chef Abbys added that her father constantly reminds her about the value of education.

“My dad always advises me that when you have an education, you have everything. You can do anything because, since you’re educated, you come out, and you have so many things you want to do. Education will guide you to do the right thing, no matter the course you studied in school,” she added.
