Gisela is a Ghanaian social media influencer and content creator
Ghanaian social media influencer Gisela Amponsah has described Nana Ama McBrown as the true definition of an influencer, stating that the actress was influencing long before the role became popular on social media.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM on April 21, 2026, Gisela explained that she admired Nana Ama McBrown from her acting days and believes she has been one of the biggest brand influencers in Ghana for years.
“I used to watch Nana Ama McBrown when she was an actress. When we want to say who an influencer is, we would give it to McBrown,” she said.
According to Gisela, McBrown was already influencing brands and audiences before people even started using the term “influencer.”
“When she started influencing, we hadn’t given the role of influencing a title. When you think about it deeply, she has been an influencer for a very long time,” she stated.
She established that the actress has worked with many brands over the years and has always known how to market them effectively on her social media pages.
“She has worked with a lot of brands and how she would advertise them on her social media platforms, that’s exactly what she’s doing. I believe most influencers look up to her and I also do,” she explained.

Gisela further stated that influencing should not be seen as a career meant only for women, as men can also thrive in the space.
“It’s possible for men to also take influencing seriously. I don’t see the difference between what a woman will do and what a man will do,” she noted.
According to her, if women can use their lifestyles to inspire followers online, men can do the same.
“If a woman can show her lifestyle online to her followers to be inspired, why can’t men also do the same? Influencing is not meant for only women; men can do it as well,” she said.
Gisela further noted that influencing has evolved significantly over the years, especially after 2020, when social media content looked very different from what it is today.
“Influencing has always been in existence but it wasn’t like how we see it today. What we used to see on social media in 2020, that’s not what we see now,” she shared.
She also revealed that even payment structures for influencers have changed over time.
“I started influencing in 2020, but what we used to do back then is not the same as now. When it comes to payment too, it used to be different,” she added.
