The Gomoa Easter festival took place from April 2 to April 5, 2026
A member of the planning committee behind the Gomoa Easter Festival has explained how the annual celebration goes beyond entertaining crowds, quietly building an economic and creative ecosystem in the Gomoa constituency.
Kendrick Aryee, popularly known in showbiz circles as Kendrick Yehowada, shared these insights in an interview with GhanaWeb, shedding light on the vision and growing impact of the festival.
According to the talent manager and festival organiser, the event was born out of a simple desire to tap into the Easter celebrations, traditionally dominated by Kwahu, and create a unique platform for Gomoa.
"Every Easter, people only know about Kwahu. So what we decided to do is not necessarily to redirect traffic to Gomoa but to create some activity that will give people who can't go to Kwahu something that they can enjoy," he said.
The results, he noted, have been immediate and visible. Hotels filled up, restaurants recorded patronage levels they had not seen in years, and residents began investing in new infrastructure to accommodate the influx of visitors.
Beyond tourism, Kendrick said the festival has also opened a door for homegrown talent that previously had no platform.

He revealed that the committee discovered a wealth of undiscovered artistes living right within the Gomoa constituency.
"People living within the Gomoa constituency who are very talented. But until then, Nobody possibly could have heard about them. The platform also allowed the indigenous upcoming artists to showcase their talent," he said.
The committee, he added, is now looking at ways to provide more structured support to these emerging acts, including studio equipment and video shoot assistance to help them build their profiles beyond the festival stage.
Asked about the future of talented young people in Gomoa, Kendrick was optimistic.
"With the necessary support, they are going to become big like the likes of Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, King Promise, and so on," he said.
