  I know some friends and school mates who dated and even married women older than themselves. Some of these individuals seemed to have a need for a "mother figure" but ended up marrying strong-willed women (the type who "wear the trousers” at home). In one case that I am acquainted with the man married a woman who was about 4-5 years older, very domineering not only towards the husband but even towards their children. This woman made all the major decisions in the family- where they lived, where their children attended school etc. The children have all now grown up and left home and two of them have very strained or non-existent relationship with their "bully mother" and have moved away to different towns to avoid her .The man is a mere shadow of the man I knew in school and now sits at home watching TV all day (he is now retired).The woman continues to work outside the home and spends a great deal of her time with mostly male work colleagues.
