I don't think Jesus salvic message was talking about curses of human beings that he has come to shed His blood on? I stand to be corrected if I don't pay my tithes am I an armed robber? If the pastor is using my tithes to do their things what makes him? Pastors let's also mindful and really learn from the son of man who came not to judge but to save all. Haven't heard any of you trying to explain what some of these monies are used for and probably the blessings In it...all I hear is condemnation so people cannot talk..look at the great Saints of the church had enquiry minds and ask questions and God gave them explanations....ask, seek and you will be given. On this issues of tithing, does it serve it's purpose today? Tithes were paid to the Levitical priest who had no land to farm as at that time. It was foodstuffs. Some argue in Hebrews 7 that Abraham paid tithe.How many times did he pay? It was once and voluntary. It's because he as a Jew. He paid tithe when 4 Kings captured his nephew called Lot and he sent 318 soldiers to get him released. On his return to Jerusalem that he Mechizedec who blessed him and upon that gave him one tent of everything from the proceeds of the war.
Another school of thought argue that even Jesus encourage the payment of tithe on Matthew 23:23. He did that because he was Jew and the most high predated his death.
Let's remember that Christianity started from Acts 2.
Let's not forget that none of the Apostles preached and received tithing. Even Paul who wrote most of the Epistle never preached tithing but giving.
In conclusion, Hebrew 7-12 say we are under the new covenant and not the old covenant, therefore the laws must be changed. On the cross Christ said " it's finished". Everything ended on the cross. We are no more under the law but grace. So tithing ended on the cross, no more levitical priest , everybody, be it a Jew or Gentile can be a Priest.
