If the pastor is using my tithes to do their things what makes him? Pastors let's also mindful and really learn from the son of man who came not to judge but to save all. Haven't heard any of you trying to explain what some of these monies are used for and probably the blessings In it...all I hear is condemnation so people cannot talk..look at the great Saints of the church had enquiry minds and ask questions and God gave them explanations....ask, seek and you will be given. On this issues of tithing, does it serve it's purpose today? Tithes were paid to the Levitical priest who had no land to farm as at that time. It was foodstuffs. Some argue in Hebrews 7 that Abraham paid tithe.How many times did he pay? It was once and voluntary. It's because he as a Jew. He paid tithe when 4 Kings captured his nephew called Lot and he sent 318 soldiers to get him released. On his return to Jerusalem that he Mechizedec who blessed him and upon that gave him one tent of everything from the proceeds of the war.
Another school of thought argue that even Jesus encourage the payment of tithe on Matthew 23:23. He did that because he was Jew and the most high predated his death.
Let's remember that Christianity started from Acts 2.
Let's not forget that none of the Apostles preached and received tithing. Even Paul who wrote most of the Epistle never preached tithing but giving.
In conclusion, Hebrew 7-12 say we are under the new covenant and not the old covenant, therefore the laws must be changed. On the cross Christ said " it's finished". Everything ended on the cross. We are no more under the law but grace. So tithing ended on the cross, no more levitical priest , everybody, be it a Jew or Gentile can be a Priest.

Deut 14:29 And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
No pastor was ever mentioned. These criminals are not Levites. They can’t meet the requirements for being one. Property grabbing con men can’t be Levites.
You have widows, fatherless children in your mix, at least you can identify them more easily than fake Levites. Why don’t you give them instead?

But when a church is built we have a problem.
Many of us are happy to give our monies to cigarette and alcohol companies and happy to give to girls who don't even love us yet we are not happy when some people ( not them) give to support the activities of the church.
Many of us don't know what goes into running a church. It costs a lot of money to keep a church running.
Many of us who condemn the church don't even go to church and many of us don't know that a church pays commercial rates for the utilities such as water and electricity.
Many of us don't know Christ but we have a problem when those who do know the Lord and goes to church are supporting their churches with Tithes and offerings. Etc
I want to encourage every Christian reading this piece who goes to church to continue to give their time, talents, resources to support their local church and their pastor because it is biblical and proper to do so.
Many of us think we are wise by insulting the church but what we don't know is that our grandparents and some of our parents born before 1948 attended a church school fully funded by the church because there was no government schools in Ghana before 1948.
Many of us don't know this truth and the massive contribution the church has made to impact our country Ghana.
