Adombi Serwaa, mother of Ghanaian actress and socialite Efia Odo, has revealed the emotional distress she went through over her daughter’s involvement in politics.

Speaking during a discussion on UTV’s United Showbiz on May 3, 2026, she disclosed that she was deeply troubled by reports and videos circulating about her daughter, even while she was outside the country.

“I wasn’t here in Ghana, but I was hearing everything. Elders were also calling me. I was unable to sleep well out of fear. I feared for my daughter’s life,” she said.

According to her, the situation became so alarming that she had to intervene directly by speaking to her daughter.

“I told Efia Odo I didn’t want to lose her, so if she loves me, she shouldn’t involve herself. I would allow her to do anything she wants but not politics,” she stated.

Adombi Serwaa emphasized that no amount of money or opportunity is worth risking her peace or her daughter’s safety.

“Money can’t buy my life and my happiness. If there’s peace in the money I’m being offered, I will take it, but if not, I don’t want it. No money can buy the love I have for my daughter,” she shared.

She further disclosed that she received threats from some individuals, urging her to advise her daughter to stay away from political activities.

“A lot of people threatened me that if I didn’t advise my daughter to stop her involvement in politics, something would happen to her,” she said.

Despite her busy schedule and limited engagement with social media, she said the seriousness of the situation became clear when people started sending her videos, prompting her to act.

“I don’t usually follow the things going on social media because of my busy schedule. So when they started sending the videos to me, I decided to stand firm and talk to my daughter. The amazing part is when I spoke to her, she listened,” she noted.

She further stated that, based on her experience, she is hesitant about her children venturing into politics.

“I don’t think I would ever allow any of my children to go into politics because of what I’ve seen. For now, I don’t know, but if it’s decent and there’s peace, I might consider,” she added.
