The annual Met Gala fashion event came back to the streets of New York city on the evening of May 4, 2026, and as usual, celebrities and their fashion designers came with a collection of eccentric, fascinating and some downright bizarre costumes that made the trends.
Going by the theme, "Fashion is Art," celebrities were encouraged to blur the lines between high fashion and artistic expression. And some took the expression to great lengths.
From Beyonce to Katy Perry to Heidi Klum, here are the top most bizarre looks from the 2026 Met Gala.
Beyonce
After a 10 year hiatus from the event, Beyonce return to co-chair the Met Gala this year. She was joined on the carpet by her husband Jay Z and their daughter Blue Ivy. But it was her look that stole the show.
Partnering with designer Olivier Rousteing, the singer showed up in a sheer silver gown featuring a skeleton of crystals. The look was complete with a feathered train and a crystal headpiece.
Heidi Klum
Known for her extravagant costumes at the Met Gala over the years, model Heidi Klum came to this year’s event, literally as a statue.
Showing up in a white, full-body look that covered her from head to toes, eyes and even teeth. Klum literally resembled an ancient Greek statue. Making her one of the most talked about celebrities of the night.
Katy Perry
After a 4-year break, the musician, who is no stranger to spontaneous costumes, came back to the carpet with a
Perry showed up in a white Stella McCartney gown complete with white gloves bearing six-fingers.
But what caught the most attention was a silver headpiece by Miodrag Gubernic which resembled the headgears worn by fencing athletes.
Kim Kardashian
The model and socialite partnered with British artist Allen Jones to pay tribute to the 1960s culture of movies accentuating the female form by using casts.
Kardashian showed up in a blunt orange breastplate with pointed breasts.
Emma Chamberlain
The internet personality and presenter took the theme seriously, dressing up as a painting.
She walked in with a custom Mugler by Miguel Castro Freitas. Highlighting her family background in the arts.
