Kuami Eugene is a Ghanaian singer and songwriter
Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene has stated that “Sweet Boy”, the title of his EP, reflects a new phase in his music career following his exit from Lynx Entertainment.
Speaking in an interview on TV3 on May 3, 2026, Eugene explained that the project was born out of the need to reintroduce himself and connect more deeply with fans after going independent.
“The ‘Sweet Boy’ idea came when I exited Lynx Entertainment two years ago and I needed to put in more work,” he said.
According to him, he began by releasing singles after leaving the label, noting that “Monica” was his last song under Lynx before moving on to new projects.
“I started with singles, Monica was my last single with Lynx Entertainment and I released a couple of singles,” he explained.
He added that he later decided to compile a full body of work, which resulted in the “Sweet Boy” EP.
“Then I figured I needed to put together a body of work for my fans and Ghanaians. I put together Sweet Boy,” he shared.
Kuami Eugene celebrates career independence with 'Sweetboy' EP
Kuami Eugene noted that the EP’s title reflects his desire to be seen as an artiste who appeals to all age groups and fits into every setting.
“The reason for choosing that name was that I wanted to be recognised as the guy who fits every household. The moms, the kids, the uncles, aunties and everyone love him because he’s that sweet boy. It’s just a bunch of happiness when Kuami is around,” he said.
He further explained that although he still maintains his “rockstar” identity, the EP highlights a softer and more relatable side of his artistry.
“I still have the rockstar image, but then again, I’m just reminding everybody that I’m that sweet boy you can call brother, son, because I fit everywhere,” he noted.
He described the EP as a blend of soothing and versatile sounds, with elements of Highlife incorporated into the project.
“It’s solely sweet music right now. It used to be Highlife music and I have a bit of Highlife music in the EP, but it’s more like soothing music. Something you can play everywhere; in your car alone or with family and I have every vibe in there,” he added.
