Rap, a genre that has long stood as one of the most powerful pillars in African music, consistently sparks debates about who holds the crown as the Ghana’s best.
Derrick Annor Boadi, Head of Public Relations for Revival Concert, has weighed in on this ongoing conversation, asserting that Kweku Smoke is currently the best rapper in Ghana.
Speaking on GhanaWeb’s “TGMA Countdown” show hosted by Joseph Henry Mensah and Isaac Dadzie, which aired on May 7, 2026, he explained that when people think about rap music in Ghana today, Kweku Smoke is the first name that comes to mind.
“When you look at the rap game in Ghana right now, he is currently the best rapper in Ghana. No shades to anybody in the rap game, respect to everybody doing music right now, but if you think about the biggest rap artiste in Ghana currently, the only name that will come to your head is Kweku Smoke,” he argued.

To support his point, Derrick stated that ‘Adu The Borga’ is currently the biggest rap song in Ghana, while the second biggest is ‘Violence’ by Sarkodie featuring Kweku Smoke.
He added that the hook on the song, performed by Kweku Smoke, is what many people love most about the track.
“‘Adu The Borga’ is the biggest rap song in Ghana, released by Kweku Smoke. The second biggest rap song is ‘Violence’ by Sarkodie, which featured Kweku Smoke. The hook on that song is what everybody loves and what everybody sings to. So, when I say he is the biggest rapper in Ghana, I’m not just saying it, he has put in a lot of work into rap music,” he stated.
The Head of PR for Revival Concert further argued that while many rap artistes in Ghana branch into other genres, Kweku Smoke has remained committed to rap music.
“You see a lot of artistes drift away and do a bit of Azonto, a bit of Afrobeats, but he has stayed true to one genre only. It’s rap, and he is doing it very well. In Ghana, the mainstream media like to listen to songs that make people dance,” he added.
