Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay has stated that winning Artiste of the Year at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) would be proof that hard work truly pays off.
Speaking on the red carpet on May 9, 2026, she emphasised that her journey over the past year shows she deserves the honour.
“Not giving up. It will be a testament of consistency, hard work and self-belief. It will be an inspiration to a lot of people, not just because I am a woman or because it will empower women but also to show everyone that if you believe in yourself and put your mind to something, you can achieve it.
“The numbers are there, the hard work is there, the songs are there, everything is just there. So, it will be a great honour to be seen as an epitome of inspiration, hard work and belief, “she said.
Wendy Shay is nominated alongside Black Sherif, Medikal, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and Diana Hamilton in the Artiste of the Year category.
