Ghanaian reggae-dancehall legend Samini has issued a stern warning about the dangers of defamation, urging public figures and other individuals to take legal action against those who spread false narratives about them.

In a post on X on June 7, 2026, the ‘Linda’ hitmaker described defamation as a serious crime with far-reaching consequences, not just for individuals, but for history itself.

"Defamation of character is a serious crime. Dangerous enough to charge a whole generation's mind about an individual's hard-earned legacy," he wrote.

Samini warned that allowing false narratives to go unchallenged is the same as accepting them, arguing that unchecked lies could eventually find their way into historical records and become nearly impossible to correct.

"Defamation left unchecked means acceptance of a narrative as facts. When such narratives end up in history books, it becomes almost impossible, no matter how hard historians try, to edit and rewrite history again," he stated.

The musician urged anyone facing character assassination to resist the urge to stay silent and instead seek legal redress.

"Henceforth, don't sit unconcerned while someone creates false and negative news about your character. The law protects you from such low lives," he added.

While Samini did not name any specific individual or incident in the post, the tone of his message suggests it may have been prompted by happenings in the entertainment space, such as the issue between dancehall artiste Stonebwoy and blogger Webkid, who is currently in police custody for a false post about the artiste.
