Media personality and entrepreneur Shatta Michy has expressed her solidarity with Ghanaians evacuated from South Africa, describing the attacks on Ghanaians and other African nationals in South Africa as deeply troubling.

Speaking in an interview with the media at the Accra International Airport on June 7, 2026, as the returnees arrived, Michy said it was painful to witness Africans turn against one another.

"I followed what went on in South Africa. It is unfortunate that Africans would do that to each other, because we are all brothers and sisters. So what happened was very sad and unfortunate," she said.

The entrepreneur also praised President John Dramani Mahama and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, commending the swift response of the government in securing the safe return of distressed Ghanaians.

"We need to give a big thanks to the government, especially the president and the foreign affairs minister, because the attention they gave the Ghanaians in South Africa is like that of a father attending to his child in distress," she stated.

Shatta Michy said the moment had deepened her patriotism and national pride.

"I am proud to be a Ghanaian. Because I know that if you are not loved anywhere, you are loved at home," she said.
