Ghanaian gospel minister Wonderboy has recounted a chilling experience from his past, revealing that he travelled to Benin with friends, where they slept in a coffin in a desperate bid to obtain quick wealth and success.
In an interview with KayB Media aired on June 6, 2026, Wonderboy said although he used to sing, he ditched music and began following friends who were involved in internet fraud.
According to Wonderboy, back in the day, when many people did not own personal computers or laptops, they would visit internet cafés to engage in romance scams.
Most often, he said, after clients send money for the first time, they subsequently stop responding to messages.
So at that point, one of their friends suggested that they spiritually "tie" a victim, leading them to seek the services of a fetish priest.
Speaking about how he ended up sleeping in a coffin in Benin, Wonderboy noted that one of his friends suddenly became wealthy and acquired a car and a house.
Curious about how the friend had gotten such wealth, the gospel minister said he and two other friends approached him to find out the secret behind his riches.
He said, they then discovered that he had acquired the wealth after travelling to Benin.

“One of our friends bought a new car, so we went to ask him how he managed to get it. He told us he had gone to Benin and said that if we were interested, he could take us there too. However, he didn’t give us the full details,” Wonderboy shared.
In the quest to become wealthy, the gospel minister said he and two other friends travelled to Benin to meet the fetish priest.
According to him, the mallam informed them that since the three of them had come for money rituals, one of them would die a week after sleeping in a coffin.
Despite the warning, they agreed to proceed with the ritual.
“We drove to Togo and then switched to another car that took us to Benin. When we arrived, the mallam was speaking a language we didn’t understand, so someone had to translate for us. He told us that of the three of us who had come and would sleep in a coffin, one person would die within a week. We slept in the coffin with it closed over us, and when we woke up, he told us to leave. Exactly one week later, one of us died,” he recounted.
Wonderboy further shared that after sleeping in the coffin, all three of them returned to Ghana. However, he said they lived in fear because the mallam had told them that one of them would die within a week.
He noted that exactly a week after their return from the Benin trip, one of the two friends who had gone on the journey with him passed away.
According to Wonderboy, they believed the deceased friend had become the sacrifice required for them to become wealthy.
He further indicated that when they heard the news of their friend's death, they were not saddened. Instead, they became excited because they believed the ritual had worked.
The gospel minister said the ritual appeared to work, as they were given something resembling a sack to place under their bed.
According to him, once the ritual was completed and the sack was removed, it contained money, and they began acquiring properties.
He added that they also covered all the funeral expenses of their friend who had passed away.
