Media personality Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady, has issued a warning to controversial founder of International God's Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, cautioning that his public statements and social media activities surrounding his marital dispute with wife Florence Obinim could seriously backfire if the matter ends up in court.

Speaking in a video on TikTok, Vim Lady urged the embattled bishop to tread carefully, invoking the legal principle of Locus Classicus to explain how everything said and done publicly in the course of the dispute could be admissible as evidence against him.

"Bishop Obinim and Florence Obinim's case, I pray it doesn't land in court. Because it can have serious repercussions for Obinim himself," she warned.

The media personality broke down several areas of potential legal exposure for the bishop.

On the question of marital breakdown, she noted that courts typically require one party to prove unreasonable behaviour, citing adultery or abandonment as examples, and argued that the public record of their dispute already provides material for such a case.

She also flagged Obinim's own admission in a past interview that his wife contributes equally to their finances as a potentially damaging piece of evidence.

"There was an interview where he himself admitted that his wife contributes 50-50. That can be used. The court can put a value on his properties," she explained.

Vim Lady further pointed to Florence's relocation to Spain with one of their children to support his football career as a sacrifice the court could recognise and compensate.

She also suggested that Florence's years of service singing in church could form the basis of a financial claim.

"There are so many things he has said and we have seen in public that will require compensation and can make the court grant her," she stated.

Closing her remarks, Vim Lady cautioned the public to beware of what they say on social media, noting that it could go against them at any point in time.

"This is advice to everyone to be careful of their digital footprint and what they say in public," she added.

How the saga started

Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder of the International God's Way Church, made a shocking public declaration to his congregation, explicitly stating that when he dies, only his biological children and church members — referred to as the "Abroso Family" — should handle his funeral and burial arrangements, excluding his wife Florence Obinim and his extended family entirely.

Florence's reaction

Florence Obinim responded in a radio interview, saying she was not surprised by her husband's statement and was actually grateful that he expressed his feelings openly. "What I will tell him is, may God bless him for saying what he feels," she said.

Obinim clarifies

Obinim later clarified that Florence could still attend his funeral and sit as a widow, but would remain excluded from the burial arrangements. He cited the family disputes that erupted following the deaths of Daddy Lumba and Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka as his motivation for making his wishes public.

Divorce rumours surface

The funeral controversy quickly sparked divorce rumours online, but Obinim firmly denied any plans to end the marriage, stressing that his funeral wishes were about preventing future family disputes and had nothing to do with his relationship with Florence.
