Ghanaian actor, comedian and content creator Jeffrey Nortey has revealed that his dream of becoming an actor began as early as Class Six, long before he became a household name in Ghana’s entertainment industry.

Speaking in an interview with Patience Adu on GhanaWeb’s Talkertainment, Nortey said he was known among his classmates for his unwavering ambition to become an actor.

According to him, his friends even gave him the nickname “Jeffrey the Actor” because he constantly spoke about pursuing a career in acting.

“Whenever a teacher came to class and asked what we wanted to be in future, by the time it got to my turn, the whole class would answer for me and say, ‘He wants to be an actor,’” he recounted.

Jeffrey explained that while many young people struggle to identify their career paths, he was fortunate to discover his passion at a very young age.

“I’ve always wanted to do this. So in choosing courses and whatever I did, it was geared towards being an actor. I just wanted to be on the screen and get that fulfillment,” he said.

The actor noted that although he initially only envisioned himself acting on screen, his creative journey later expanded into other areas, including comedy, skit making and stage performances.

“I didn’t know I would do skits, content, or even be on stage. But as a creative, you’re growing. When you grow, you figure things out and you fuel it. Anything can mature into something awesome,” he stated.

Reflecting on his journey, Nortey expressed gratitude to God for helping him discover his purpose early in life and for giving him the determination to pursue it.

“I thank God for revealing it to me at a very young age. It makes me proud that I actually stuck to it and made my people proud,” he said.

He also acknowledged the support of his family, despite their initial concerns about the financial prospects of acting.

According to Nortey, his family’s main worry was that acting might not provide a stable source of income.

“Their problem was that it doesn’t pay. But I don’t blame them because they didn’t know much about it. There’s a business side to it,” he explained.

Today, Jeffrey Nortey is regarded as one of Ghana’s most versatile entertainers, having successfully built a career across acting, comedy and digital content creation.
