According to Shatta Wale, the loss was symbolic and jokingly implied that it was a sign for Africans living in South Africa to return to their home countries.

“It’s the Holy Spirit and a spiritual curse. We knew they would lose. It is a strategy to let people know that Africa will not move forward until people go back to their own countries,” he said.

His comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with some social media users viewing the remarks as humorous, while others questioned the statement and its interpretation.
